MIXTURES
A mixture is when you put together two or more things.
In a mixture we can see different components, for example in a salad, we can see lettuce, tomatoes, carrot.
But there are some mixtures that we cannot see the different components, for example, we cannot see the different components in sea water or in the air.

4.     Copy and complete in your notebook the next exercise

1.Pure substances are made up of____________
a.     Only one substance
b.     More than one substance

2.Mixtures are made up of________________
a.     Only one substance
b.     More than one substance

3. Some examples of pure subtances are _____________
a.     Granite and air
b.     Oxygen and quartz

4.Most subtances around us are______________
a.     Mixtures
b.     Pure substances

5.When we put some sugar in coffee, _______________
a.     A new substance is formed
b.     A mixture occurs

6.We can identify a mixture of wáter and salt by allowing the water to______________
a.     Condense
b.     Evaporate

NATURAL SCIENCE 5 DE MAYO

Refreshing after the long weekend...

Here you have a review about the states of matter:

You don't need to copy this scheme.

You can watch my video for the explanation:

1.     Open your book on page 76 and read it.

2. Wacth the video NATURAL SCIENCE 5 MAYO

3.     Copy in your notebook
PURE MATTER

They are substances made up of only one type of matter. These are some examples about pure matter.
-         Oxygen
-         Quartz, Diamond or Gold
-         Sugar and Salt
-         Water

4.     Do the next exercise in your notebook.

What are the states of matter of OXYGEN, QUARTZ,
SUGAR and WATER?

*Remember that the state of matter are: solid, gas or liquid.

NATURAL SCIENCE 30 DE ABRIL

1.     Watch the next video:

2.     Open your book on page 75 and watch the video

3.     Copy in your notebook.

WATER CHANGES OF STATE
-      MELTING:   If you heat a solid, it melts into a liquid. Ex. Ice melts and becomes liquid water.
-       EVAPORATION:   If you heat a liquid, it changes into a gas. Ex. Water evaporates and becomes water vapour.
-        SOLIDIFICATIONIf you cool a liquid, it changes into a solid. Ex. Liquid water solidifies and becomes ice.
-        CONDENSATIONIf you cool a gas, it changes into a liquid. Ex. Water vapour condenses and becomes drops of water.

NATURAL SCIENCE 28 DE ABRIL

1.     Watch the next video about clouds

2.     Watch the next videos about geysers, the last one is about one geyser in Lanzarote

3.     Open your book on page 74 and read
4.     Copy in your notebook
STATES OF WATER
Water is found everywhere in the Earth. We can find it in three states: liquid, solid and gas.
-         Clouds: they are made of small drops, liquid water and ice crystals.
-         Geyser: it is the eruption of water vapour and hot liquid air.
-         Water vapour: it is water as a gas
-         Ice: it is solid water. It is found in cold places, for example, snow is made of ice. It forms when water vapour freezes.
-         Liquid water: it is found in rivers, seas, lakes and oceans.

PROPERTIES OF MATTER
They are colors, shape, size and smell.

·        Mass: it is the amount of matter in an object. We measure it in kilograms.
·        Volume: it is the space that an object occupies. We measure it in litres.

3. Copy and do the next exercises in your notebook.
1.     What things are matter? Complete the table with the next words:

Sound            air             water            light           Wood           feelings

MATTER
NOT MATTER

2.Look at the pairs of objects and answer the questions

a.     Which toy in A has a greater mass?
b.     Which toy in A has a larger volume?
c.      Which ball in B has a greater mass?
d.     Which ball in B has a larger volume?
